Predicting the 49ers’ 2018 starting lineup after opening wave of NFL free agency
By Peter Panacy
Niner Noise revisits our predictions for the San Francisco 49ers’ 2018 starting lineup after the opening waves of NFL free agency, which kicked off on Mar. 14. There are some notable changes.
The San Francisco 49ers weren’t quite as active this offseason in NFL free agency as they were a year ago this time.
That’s OK, though. General manager John Lynch’s efforts in 2017 were more about turning over a roster rather than fine-tuning it.
Lynch and Co. haven’t been in on many of the big-name free agents that have dominated offseason speculation. Yet they did make a number of significant changes, which will ultimately impact the team’s starting lineup in 2018.

Just before free agency began, Niner Noise broke down an ideal starting lineup for San Francisco this season.
With the flurry of moves around the league, it’s safe to say many of the predicted changes won’t happen. And yet there are going to be some changes, which ultimately should improve the Niners’ chances to contend for a playoff berth.
Let’s revisit what we think the 49ers’ 2018 starting lineup will be, kicking things off with a unit that won’t change much at all.
Special teams.
