No. 4: Jimmy Garoppolo Side-Slings It to Trent Taylor for a Touchdown

When it happened: Week 16 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

No one thought the 49ers offense would stand a chance against the Jacksonville Jaguars and their top-ranked defense in Week 16.

No one except the 49ers themselves.

San Francisco dropped 44 points against the best scoring defense in the NFL this season. And six of those came when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, exercising some serious innovation, side-slung a pass to slot receiver Trent Taylor in the end zone:

“Yeah, I showed him how to do it in practice,” head coach Kyle Shanahan joked about Garoppolo’s throw following the game.

No one cares how Garoppolo got it to Taylor. All that matters is he did. And it winds up being a thing of beauty.
