We’re sorry, Jets. The Broncos defense returned to Super Bowl 50 form and shut you out in Denver.

Quarterback Josh McCown had a day to forget, going 6-of-12 for 46 yards and an interception — en route to a 25.0 passer rating — before suffering a season-ending hand injury and giving way to backup QB Bryce Petty, who wasn’t much better.

In fairness, all of New York’s offense stunk. So it’s best to put that all behind right now.

A bit troubling, though, was how the Jets allowed the Broncos to go 7-of-17 on third downs and also muster 17 first downs in total. Considering all the woes Denver had been having on offense, the Jets clearly didn’t take advantage of the opportunity.

Oh well. There’s always next week.

Biggest Question

Head coach Todd Bowles’ efforts this year have saved his job, for sure. But the Jets are a long ways away from competing for an AFC East crown. McCown is aging, and he’ll need to be replaced at some point soon. And there are still talent deficiencies on both sides of the ball.

Where will New York start and place its highest priority?
