Quarterback comparison

Jimmy Garoppolo gets his first start at quarterback for the 49ers.

During his four years in the NFL, Garoppolo has started a total of two games. In those two starts, Garoppolo went 2-0 and passed for 502 yards with four touchdowns. Garoppolo completed 68 percent of his throws and averaged 11.7 yards per pass while throwing only one interception.

Last week, Garoppolo was 2-2 passing for 18 yards and one touchdown, also carrying the ball once for four yards. With the data available, Garoppolo has shown he can make an impact on the field.

In facing the Bears, Garoppolo goes against the No. 12 pass defense in the NFL. Chicago only allows 215 passing yards per game, reflecting a formidable unit.

Rookie Mitchell Trubisky is coming off a rough game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Seven games into Trubisky’s first year in the NFL, and we know it is going to be some time before he adjusts to the game. Last week versus Philadelphia, Trubisky threw for 147 yards and two interceptions in a 31-3 loss.

It was the first multi-interception game for Trubisky as a professional, bringing his season total to four. Tribusky has passed for 1,135 yards and is completing 52.8 percent of his throws. During that time, the Bears have gone 2-5.

Obviously not quite exactly the start the Chicago envisioned, but Trubisky is far from a lost cause. A game against the 49ers could be a confidence-booster.
