Week 13 by the numbers

Since coming back from injury in Week 7, rookie linebacker Reuben Foster has been playing at a high level. In the four full games Foster has played in, he has recorded 36 total tackles.

Foster’s play for November warranted the attention of league officials, who awarded him NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month. Considering Foster led the team in tackles for the month despite only playing in three games, the award comes with merit.

So far in the limited time Foster has played, the rookie has proved to be one of the best defenders the team has. Per Pro Football Focus, Foster has graded out at 87.2, a healthy margin from the second ranked player.

There is another rookie displaying some talent on the field — and who is also having trouble staying healthy. In the four games safety Adrian Colbert was featured in, the Miami product flashed some serious ability at the position.

This was evident in the Week 10 game against the New York Giants, where Colbert had a highlight play in the 3rd quarter (via 49ersHub):

But Colbert suffered a broken thumb in that game and was sidelined last week versus Seattle. Even with the injury, Colbert’s play has still been stellar.
