Wide Receiver

Best Player: Pierre Garçon

Despite suffering a season-ending neck injury in Week 8, the 49ers’ best player at wide receiver thus far has been the veteran, Pierre Garçon.

Garçon’s year came to an end at a point where he was on pace to net exactly 1,000 yards receiving. And unlike a number of other wideouts on San Francisco’s roster, the 31 year old didn’t suffer the dropsies, as had been such an issue for the team’s offense.

More from Niner Noise

In many ways, Garçon reminded fans of a faster version of former 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin — tough, physical and always capable of making catches at critical points.

Without Garçon in the lineup, the Niners have been forced to rely more on depth receivers. Marquise Goodwin has since taken over the No. 1 role, but the rest of the year will tell a lot about younger players like Trent Taylor, Kendrick Bourne and Victor Bolden.

While promising, it’s good to know Garçon should return fully healthy next year.
