51. . L, 24-7 at Vikings. Previous: . Los Angeles Rams. 6. team

The Los Angeles Rams had a brief hold within the top five of our NFL power rankings before dropping a 24-7 effort on the road against a top-tier Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 11.

It’s hard to say whether or not the Rams simply had an off day — those things happen, even for top-ranked offenses — or the Vikings defense is just that good. Probably a bit of both.

At any rate, quarterback Jared Goff never looked comfortable throughout the course of the game. He completed 62.1 percent of his passes, but the majority of these were in the short game. And L.A.’s potent offense never seemed to find a rhythm.

Especially against a dangerous defense playing in front of its home crowd.

What seemed to be the case was Minnesota clamping down on running back Todd Gurley, who managed just 2.5 yards a carry on 15 attempts. While he did score a touchdown, it’s pretty clear a good defense can do some things against this Rams offense if it forces L.A. to be one-dimensional.

The Rams drop a bit in our NFL power rankings this week, but they can still feel pretty good about their postseason chances.
