NFL power rankings: Breaking down where each team sits in Week 12
By Peter Panacy
Falcons fans might have had nightmares of Super Bowl LI in the last few minutes against the Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
But Seattle kicker Blair Walsh’s would-be game-tying field goal fell short in the waning seconds, and the Falcons held on to beat the Seahawks 34-31 in Seattle.
That’s a pretty impressive feat.
Atlanta didn’t get much of a running game going, and quarterback Matt Ryan threw for just under 200 yards against a banged-up Seattle defense. But that was enough for head coach Dan Quinn and Co., especially to help keep pace with the Panthers and Saints in the NFC South.
While it looked a bit tired and undisciplined towards the end, the Falcons defense did manage to sack Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson three times and also forced two turnovers.
The Falcons appear to have corrected some earlier woes, and this victory during prime time should do a lot for their confidence.
