No. 1: Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions already have a decent strong safety in Tavon Wilson, although he’s injury prone.

And while Wilson had a solid start to his tenure with the Lions last year, after leaving the New England Patriots after 2015, the 27-year-old veteran has been one of the bigger liabilities for Detroit’s otherwise solid secondary.

Coverage has been Wilson’s primary issue this season, as his 36.3 Pro Football Focus pass-coverage grade suggests.

Eric Reid, on the other hand, has been much more effective in this area. So, with the Lions hotly in the competition for the NFC North crown — especially with the Green Bay Packers without quarterback Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) for the foreseeable future — making a move with the 49ers is something worth some value.

Again, NFL deadline deals rarely happen. And even if the Niners were willing to listen to offers, it’s not likely John Lynch would be able to command much in return.

Perhaps a fifth- or a sixth-round pick at best.

Yet any compensation would do the 49ers a tremendous deal as they look to completely overhaul a talent-lacking roster.

Considering Reid doesn’t seem to figure in the long-term plans, San Francisco is better off getting at least something  in return.

The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. ET.
