The San Francisco 49ers have a couple of key players listed on their Week 3 injury report, as the team gets ready to square off against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football.

The San Francisco 49ers weren’t able to get much rest and recovering in after their Week 2 road loss to the Seattle Seahawks Sunday.

Instead, the Niners host the visiting Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football — San Francisco’s only prime-time game this season.

The abbreviated week still included three practice sessions, though, although there are some notable names on the team’s injury report:

Linebacker Eli Harold (foot) is a new addition to the report. His primary backup is special teams ace Dekoda Watson, so that’s something to watch as the game nears.

Tight end George Kittle has been a regular member of the team’s injury report this season, although he had been dealing with hamstring injuries earlier. One might suspect he plays, as he has been able to make San Francisco’s first two games this season.

On a good note, rookie linebacker Reuben Foster has already been permitted to discard the walking boot he’s been wearing since the high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 1 versus the Carolina Panthers.

“The one thing I know is that freak athletes tend to be freak healers, as well,” general manager John Lynch told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco earlier this week.

Foster won’t be available Thursday night, although there’s a real chance he’s able to take the field again in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Trouble in the 49ers Secondary?

Strong safety Eric Reid suffered what appeared to be a serious non-contact knee injury in Week 2 against the Seahawks.

Reid later returned to the game but reaggravated his knee shortly thereafter.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan later noted the PCL injury wouldn’t require surgery, although Reid likely will miss some time.

More from Niner Noise

In Reid’s spot, the Niners dropped then-starting free safety Jaquiski Tartt down into the box, putting Jimmie Ward (hamstring) atop the defense. Tartt (neck) was limited in practice, as is Ward, although it’s likely both start Week 3.

The issue is, though, depth could be a noted question mark. Rookies Lorenzo Jerome and Adrian Colbert might be called upon if either player aggravates the injury and/or is unable to play.

Jerome wasn’t active a week ago, but Reid’s status likely puts him into the 46 active group Thursday.
