No. 4: Offensive Guard Orlando Franklin, Free Agent

Well, this is a move the 49ers could make right away.

Veteran offensive lineman Orlando Franklin singed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints back on July 27, only to be released less than a week later.

As noted on the previous slide, San Francisco’s offensive line needs plenty of help. And while the 29-year-old Franklin probably isn’t the best option to plug in as a starter, he could add some valuable depth for a group needing some decent insurance heading into the regular season.

Franklin signed a five-year deal with the San Diego Chargers back in 2015 but was released after two underwhelming seasons.

The Niners are going to be without starting left guard Joshua Garnett (knee) for at least a month, and adding someone like Franklin could provide a possible upgrade over replacements like Zane Beadles and/or Brandon Fusco.
