Niner Noise takes a look at 10 returning San Francisco 49ers veterans who are on the hot seat as the team partakes in training camp ahead of the 2017 NFL season.

Earlier this week, the San Francisco 49ers released underachieving wide receiver Bruce Ellington after he failed to make much of an impact the last three seasons.

Ellington is just one example of players from the Trent Baalke regime who aren’t part of general manager John Lynch and Co.’s long-term plans.

There are others as well.

In this slideshow, Niner Noise will look at 10 returning 49ers who head towards Week 1 on the hot seat. Almost all of these players can be considered on the roster bubble during training camp and will have to showcase a number of reasons why the new front office will want to keep them around this season.

Some have seen their respective positions filled with new faces. Others have largely disappointed during their San Francisco tenure.

And there are a few who fall in between.

We’ll kick this list off with one player already rumored to be on the trading block prior to camp, tight end Vance McDonald.
