The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up their first full week of training camp practice on Monday. Niner Noise has the latest news and reports from Santa Clara.

Day four of on-field training camp activities for the San Francisco 49ers wrapped up today, and the team will enjoy a day off Tuesday before resuming practice the following day.

It’s becoming something of a regular storyline, but wide receiver Marquise Goodwin continues to showcase his speedy abilities.

Per Joe Fann of 49ers.com, Goodwin hauled in yet another deep touchdown on the day.

This comes after some pretty impressive catches throughout camp so far.

San Francisco is surely hoping Goodwin can translate this camp success onto the field this season. As things stand, he’s looking to be the team’s No. 2 wide receiver opposite Pierre Garcon.

Reuben Foster Continues His Ascension

Rookie linebacker Reuben Foster has turned heads at training camp, wrapping up the day with his third interception in camp so far, per Fox Sports’ Peter Schraeger.

Foster has made some mistakes in camp, notably in coverage, although signs are pointing to him making adjustments quickly. He’s still working with the second-team unit, although one shouldn’t be surprised to see that change within the coming weeks.

Perhaps days.

Matt Breida Making More Headway

Earlier this offseason, we pointed out how undrafted rookie free-agent Matt Breida was one of the bigger standouts from minicamps.

And it appears as if the lesser-known running back is starting to assert himself again in training camp. At least according to Niners Wire’s Rob Lowder:

Breida is competing for the No. 3 tailback spot, at best, on San Francisco’s 53-man roster. A lot of it will depend on how many runners head coach Kyle Shanahan elects to keep. But early indications are it will be tough to stash Breida on the practice squad.

Aaron Lynch Playing Well

Despite some earlier worries about his weight, EDGE Aaron Lynch — fully slimmed down now — appears to be making a serious impact as a prolific pass-rusher.

Check out what Lynch had to say, via Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group:

Lynch recorded a sack today in practice, so we should keep an eye on whether or not this sort of production is able to continue.

Injury Bug Continues to Bite the 49ers

Rare are the training camps without injury, and the 49ers have suffered a few here and there of significance.

With safety Jimmie Ward (hamstring) on the PUP list and fellow safety Eric Reid (ankle) listed as day to day, the Niners have some questions within their backfield. And it took another hit, per Fann, when backup safety Jaquiski Tartt exited practice with a rib injury.

The extent of Tartt’s injury isn’t known, but San Francisco’s depth at the position is getting tested early.

In addition to Tartt’s setback, the Niners also lost undrafted free-agent linebacker Jimmie Gilbert to an ACL tear. He’s out for the year, according to Shanahan.
