No. 5: Aldrick Robinson, WR

Aldrick Robinson may be an afterthought in some people’s minds. But for those with some football knowledge, Robinson is a player with a strong skill set, upside and with a working knowledge of Kyle Shanahan’s complex offense.

More from SF 49ers News

Operating in that system with the Atlanta Falcons last season, Robinson was effective. Taking a back seat to Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Co., he was able to amass 323 yards on 20 receptions for a 16.2 yards-per-catch average and two touchdowns in limited action.

With an entire new receiving corps, opportunities to excel and assume a larger role in this offense will be available.

With explosive play ability, Robinson has the chance to elevate his play and fill that role. Along with Pierre Garcon, Jeremy Kerley, Marquise Goodwin and Trent Taylor, to name a few, the wide receiver position battle promises to be fierce.

But Robinson’s familiarity with the system and his ability to stretch defenses should allow the offense to utilize Garcon, Kerley or other slot receivers, plus whichever tight end is in the game to make catches underneath.

That ability and the affect it could have in improving the offense should help Robinson solidify a roster spot come September.
