No. 1: 49ers Win Eight Games in 2017

Niner Noise’s latest schedule prediction has the 49ers winning a total of seven games this season — not bad, especially when one considers the shape of the roster at the end of last year.

But Vegas odds haven’t been that kind. According to South Point Hotel (h/t RJ Bell of Pregame.com), the Niners’ 2017 win line is set at 4.5.

That should be fairly easy to beat, especially considering San Francisco has very winnable games against the Los Angeles Rams (two), Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins.

Tack on another win somewhere, and you’ve made some good money.

Let’s factor in the 49ers’ upgraded defense though. Additions like Solomon Thomas, Reuben Foster and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, added to a developing crop of players like DeForest Buckner and defensive backs Rashard Robinson and Jimmie Ward, and the Niners defense may actually be, you know, pretty good this year.

San Francisco will have to stage a few upsets in addition to victories in the games above. But those are possible against teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals.
