Tim Rattay

2000 NFL Draft, Round 7, No. 212 Overall

The Niners selected former Louisiana Tech quarterback Tim Rattay in the seventh round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

Granted, most Round 7 QBs aren’t expected to make an NFL roster, let alone earn a number of starts. But Rattay did, even managing to start nine games in the 2004 season.

That year, of course, was after former 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia — and a slew of other players — left the team, which led to a 2-14 finish. Needless to say, Rattay was a starting quarterback on a very bad team.

It probably explains why Rattay finished the year with a ho-hum 78.1 passer rating.

To his credit, Rattay managed to stretch his NFL career through 2007, finishing up his pro tenure with the Arizona Cardinals.

If there is a positive, Rattay finished with a respectable 31-to-23 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his career.

Still, he was an OK backup at best. Nothing more.
