The San Francisco 49ers have no shortage of needs in the 2017 NFL Draft. Armed with 10 picks overall, general manager John Lynch still won’t use any of them to pick up these five prospects when the Niners’ number is called in late April.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch can’t afford to be too picky when the 2017 NFL Draft kicks off on April 27.

Coming off a 2-14 season a year ago, Lynch and Co. need as big an influx of talent as any.

The Niners are short on playmakers, depth and blue-chip contributors capable of turning this once-proud franchise from a laughingstock into a legitimate contender.

Still, the 49ers have to be careful about their selections.

With the draft only a few weeks away, let’s look at five players San Francisco won’t consider when its number is called. We can base our assessment on a number of factors, each of which will be discussed on subsequent slides.

In some cases, scheme fit tells us what we need to know. In others, we can base an assessment off recent actions from Lynch and the formulation of the team’s roster thus far.

And we won’t limit the to-be-avoided players to Round 1 either.
