NFL Spin Zone Seven-Round Mock

FanSided’s very own Dan Schmelzer last week released his latest mock draft for the 49ers, a full-seven rounds.

Here’s Schmelzer’s picks round-by-round:

Round 1, No. 2: Solomon Thomas (defensive line)

Round 2, No. 34: Tre’Davious White (cornerback)

Round 3, No. 66: Chris Goodwin (wide receiver)

Round 4, No. 109: Jake Butt (tight end)

Round 5, No. 143: Pat Elflein (center)

Round 5, No. 146: John Johnson (safety)

Round 5, No. 161: Sam Tevi (tackle)

Round 6, No. 198: Ryan Switzer (wide receiver)

Round 6, No. 202: Tarik Cohen (running back)

Round 7, No. 219: Steven Taylor (linebacker)

Rounds 2-5 are all very alluring selections. Here’s the bottom line on White from Zierlein:

"Has the feet, athleticism and instincts for prolonged coverage responsibilities and his twitch will always have him near the throw. Best suited for all forms of man coverage. Should compete as special teams performer. Lacks run-support physicality to be an every-down corner, but he’s talented enough to challenge for slot duties right away."

Tight end Jake Butt was once considered one of the draft’s top tight ends until he tore his ACL. So, the buzz that was once there was obviously there in the first place for a reason; he’s a good ballplayer. But the torn ACL might invoke fear in some 49ers fans.

Center Pat Elflein is Bleacher Report analyst Matt Miller’s top ranked center in the draft, and at No. 143 overall, the value is definitely there.

And considering last year’s situation, in which guard Zan Beadles had to slide over and play center due to injuries, the addition of Elflein would be very welcomed on the center depth chart.
