Quarterback Options for 2017

Before the 49ers get to the 2018 offseason, they have to play out the 2017 season, but who will start at quarterback?

With no options on the roster currently, the 49ers should turn to a veteran “bridge” quarterback solution and a young draft pick.

Some potential options for this “bridge” player include quarterbacks Brian Hoyer, Matt Schaub or Josh McCown.

They can pursue these players for a cheap deal, build the rest of the team through the draft and free agency and wait on the quarterback till 2018.

I still think they should draft a quarterback in 2017, probably should go with Patrick Mahomes in the second round and give him a run behind one of these veterans.

The 49ers don’t have a cornerstone quarterback currently in the building. I don’t think that guy will walk through the door this year either.

San Francisco should wait until 2018 and pursue these other options. They’ll save draft capital and have the potential to build other parts of their team in the meantime.
