Will Colin Kaepernick Opt Out of His Contract After the Season?

To opt out or not to opt out? That is the question.

Last week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported quarterback Colin Kaepernick would exercise the opt-out clause in his current contract and become a free agent once the 2016 season is finished.

Shortly thereafter, Kevin Lynch of SFGate.com spoke with the quarterback, who denied any such report. Kap said such a decision would be made at the end of the season.

On one hand, it makes sense for Kaepernick to want out. The last two-plus years have been little short of a nightmare in Santa Clara.

But the market for his services could be thin this offseason, so hanging onto any deal on the table might also be in Kap’s interests as well.
