Laquon Treadwell- Wide Receiver- Ole Miss

Laquon Treadwell is the best receiver in this draft. Just behind are Ohio State’s Michael Thomas and Notre Dame’s Will Fuller but, as of now, Treadwell is the only receiver worth taking with the seventh overall pick.

Bleacher Report Draft Analyst Matt Miller highlighted players before the 2015 season to watch. In Treadwell’s case, Miller gave the receiver high praise.

Treadwell suffered a nasty injury to end his 2014 season and rehabbed to return in 2015. While some wondered if the receiver would return to form, Treadwell has laid those worries to rest after posting 82 receptions for 1153 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

Treadwell entered the season expected to be one of the top receivers in the 2016 NFL Draft and ends the season as the first wide receiver on Miller’s big board.

More from Niner Noise

The 49ers currently have two starting receivers in Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin. Additionally, the 49ers drafted DeAndre Smelter who, although he hasn’t seen the field, will be given an opportunity to earn a role with the team in 2016.

Boldin will become a free agent and, at 35 years old, may look to sign with a team that is ready to compete for championships now. 49er fans shouldn’t fault Boldin for that.

They can, however, get excited about the possibility of replacing Boldin with Treadwell.

Treadwell continually shows ability to adjust to poorly thrown passes, as well demonstrating strength to win balls at the highest point. The 49ers would enjoy a receiver in the mold of Boldin. Treadwell is physical as both a receiver and blocker, adding to his value as an immediate starter on offense.

Baalke will have to decide if he feels comfortable drafting a receiver in the first round again. But if so, Treadwell should be his target in the first round.
