Running Back Kendall Gaskins (ERFA)

2015 Cap Hit: $255,882

As is the case with fellow running back DuJuan Harris, third-year pro back Kendall Gaskins doesn’t appear to be destined for the top of San Francisco’s depth chart at the position.

Gaskins has seen eight games with the 49ers this season and has just 16 carries for 38 yards.

He won’t be eligible for the practice squad next year, so the 49ers would only be keeping him as depth-chart fodder for training camp and the preseason next year — an entirely feasible possibility.

But San Francisco may not want to go this route and, instead, allow the bulk of those preseason reps to go to other members of the roster vying for a spot during the regular season.
