Offensive Guard Alex Boone (UFA)

2015 Cap Hit: $3,723,000

Left guard Alex Boone will be one of the prime targets on the free-agent this market this offseason and will likely command a hefty contract from anyone wanting to pay him.

Boone’s holdout a season ago casts doubt on whether or not San Francisco will want to keep him beyond 2015. And it’s likely he’ll actively test the market even if he hopes to stay with the 49ers.

San Francisco’s O-line has been an absolute mess this season. Boone has been OK on the year, but his run-blocking abilities haven’t been as solid. According to PFF (h/t Ryan Sakamoto of NinerFans.com), Boone boasted a minus-5.4 in run support.

Bringing Boone back would prevent more concerns and questions along the O-line. But it’s a scenario that doesn’t seem very likely at this point.
