John Lynch and the San Francisco 49ers have been as active as almost any team in the NFL this offseason. They've made so many moves that a trade involving Osa Odighizuwa and a third-round draft pick was a relatively minor event.
From big signings in free agency to jaw-dropping draft choices, the Niners have already made a splash or two.
Why not keep it going?
We've put together three mock trades to complete San Francisco's roster before the start of the 2026 season.
3 trades to fill out 49ers roster
Maybe George Kittle is back on the field in Week 1. But, in the best possible scenario, the 49ers have a 32-year-old tight end coming off a major injury. Jake Tonges has proven himself to be a capable backup, but there's still some doubt about whether he can be Kittle's successor.
Michael Mayer is an obvious answer. The current Las Vegas Raiders tight end is capable of being a starter, but he's been pushed out of the position by Brock Bowers. If the Raiders aren't going to bring him back next season, they may be willing to part ways with him for a reasonable price.
Trent Williams may be back for this season, but the 49ers still need a long-term replacement at offensive tackle. Even with the veteran in the building, there's no guarantee he stays healthy throughout the season. Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Walker Little would provide excellent depth, keeping the Niners' line from crumbling if one starter goes down.
In return, the Jaguars get Tatum Bethune, who would likely start for them at linebacker after Devin Lloyd's departure. The trade would leave San Francisco without much depth at linebacker, but it would help solidify a more valuable position.
The trade rumors around Mac Jones have largely subsided at this point in the offseason. But would the 49ers still be willing to let go of him at the right price? His trade value is likely as high as it will ever be with multiple teams still missing a capable starting quarterback.
The Cleveland Browns may already have a crowded QB room, but Jones would immediately step in as the starter. If they're unwilling to enter another season with Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson leading the charge, they may pay up for Jones. After solid showings in his 2025 starts, San Francisco could fetch a decent price for the veteran.
