Seriously, it's pretty funny.

There was legitimate concern within San Francisco 49ers circles that the NFL's officiating choice for the Wild Card round against the Philadelphia Eagles would go Philly's way.

Ultimately, it didn't develop like that, as Philadelphia was flagged seven times for 48 yards, whereas the Niners had just one penalty for 15.

Perhaps there should have been one call on future Hall of Fame left tackle Trent Williams, though, when he held Eagles edge rusher Nolan Smith on what was a decisive touchdown pass from quarterback Brock Purdy to running back Christian McCaffrey.

You be the judge here.

Regardless, no flag was thrown, and San Francisco took a lead it wouldn't surrender, winning the game and advancing to the divisional round.

Naturally, Philly fans were furious about the non-call. But Williams' response to it was, well... pretty hilarious.

Trent Williams has epic response to 'non-call' on 49ers' TD-scoring play

The perennial Pro Bowler was asked about not being flagged on the play in an interview with the SF Standard's David Lombardi:

"I didn't see a flag," Williams declared. "Hey, you only can’t get a speeding ticket if you don’t get pulled over, right. I didn’t see a flag."

Epic.

Williams has a point. Some would argue there's holding on every single snap from scrimmage, and the officials can't possibly catch everything. And there's the "just let them play" argument, too.

Although one would be hard-pressed to convince any Philadelphia fan of such a sentiment at this juncture.

Regardless, Williams' response is on point. It's not his job to officiate games, and no team would ever complain about a missed call if it ultimately ended up being beneficial in one way or another.

In the 49ers' case, it certainly was. And they're advancing in the playoffs because of what happened on the play.
