Not every team is run by Jerry Jones, but the blockbuster trade sending Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers may have inspired some hope around the league for teams to at least make a big ask on certain players.

The Micah Parsons trade isn't exactly unprecedented, but it's unquestionably shocking considering he's a 26-year-old superstar who has led the NFL in pressures since he came to the league in 2021. If Parsons can be traded, nobody around the league is off-limits.

The San Francisco 49ers have been sniffing around wide receivers all offseason, so is it time for Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to call in a favor with an old friend? At the very least, they might need to shoot their shot.

49ers should ask Dolphins about the availability of star WR Tyreek Hill

NFL teams only get certain windows of Super Bowl-level competitiveness before they have to blow things up and start over. That's the grim reality of the salary cap in today's league. With that said, the 49ers have been in the midst of that sort of "soft reset" here in the 2025 offseason.

We've seen the 49ers say goodbye to a number of former star players, including Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, Javon Hargrave, and more. The Niners are banking on internal player development this year because they have to, but they do have over $26 million in available cap space.

They could make a bold trade if they want to.

The 49ers obviously have a connection to Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who has a heck of a job ahead of him this year. McDaniel probably doesn't want to progress forward without his superstar receiver, but there have been rumblings for months surrounding Tyreek Hill and whether or not he could be on the move at some point.

Hill has a base salary of $10 million this season but just had $15.85 million of an option bonus guaranteed at the end of August. The financial aspect of trades in the NFL is always a hurdle to be overcome, but when two teams are motivated to make something happen, they get past those hurdles.

This is, of course, a hypothetical scenario, but adding someone like Hill could substantially boost the 49ers' Super Bowl hopes for this season. And it's because of that level of impact that the Dolphins haven't traded him already.

But the friction between Hill and the Dolphins has been undeniable, and if the right offer came along, they might be willing to send him across the country for draft compensation, maybe even sending a player like Jauan Jennings back to the Dolphins, where he could get a payday.

The Micah Parsons trade certainly helps general managers around the league know they can't say someone else's "No" for them. You've got to at least ask, especially if it can put your franchise into legitimate Lombardi territory.
