Things get testy between Kyle Shanahan and key 49ers WR on sideline vs. Bucs

A wide receiver (probably) wants to be thrown to more. A tale as old as time.

The San Francisco 49ers are in the middle of a tight bout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At the end of the first half, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and wide receiver Jauan Jennings got into it on the sideline.

This comes via Noah Furtado of the San Francisco Chronicle who shared this on social media:

In the first half, Jennings was completely iced out of the offensive attack as he had no targets so one figures he was probably voicing his displeasure about that to Shanahan.

Jennings was questionable coming into Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, but he suited up and was on the field even though he was dealing with an ankle and a rib injury.

It is good he was out there because Ricky Pearsall was out of the game with an injury, so San Francisco was incredibly short-handed coming into the contest. But with Jennings dealing with injuries, perhaps the Niners were trying to play it safe by not having him on the field too much.

Thankfully, Kendrick Bourne stepped up yet again on Sunday after a career-best showing in San Francisco's Week 5 contest against the Los Angeles Rams.

As of this writing, Bourne has four receptions for 130 yards as he continues to build upon the chemistry he has with quarterback Mac Jones. He has stepped up in a big way and is clearly the favorite target of Jones when they are both out there.

Jennings did not do himself any favors with Shanahan as he had two early penalties in the second half to set the team back.

This is not the first time this season Jennings has voiced his displeasure. He requested a trade before the season began as he sought a new contract, so he has not been afraid to get mad at the powers that be this season, which is why it would not be surprising if this is his last year with the Niners.

Maybe he will get more involved as the game goes on, but the Niners will need to do something special to pull it out against the Bucs especially with the seemingly never-ending injuries that they have to deal with.
