Jake Moody had one of the more ridiculous games in memory, missing three field goals in Week 10 and almost handing the game on a silver platter before redeeming himself in the final seconds.
To say that San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody had an eventful game is like saying the Mona Lisa is a decent painting.
It's technically true, but it's ridiculously understating the facts.
Moody had a game in Week 10 that can be best described as ridiculous, missing three big kicks including one late that almost saw the Niners give up a lead they had been defending with their lives. Special teams has been a bane of San Francisco's existence in 2024, and this was a game where they gave up 16 points with the three missed field goals and a muffed punt where the short field gave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a touchdown.

To his credit, Moody shook it off and did nail the game-winner. It doesn't erase the misses earlier in the game in a contest where, frankly, it should never have been this close.
But when it truly counted, he did kick the field goal when it mattered the very most.
There seems to be a common misconception regarding Moody's reliability, and that this is normal for some reason. In fact, the 49ers had missed only one field goal until this Buccaneers game.
That being said, social media is not exactly known for hot takes consisting entirely of facts, and it indeed came hard for Moody with the memes:
Perhaps more serious was the scuffle between star receiver Deebo Samuel and long-snapper Taybor Pepper over Moody's mistakes. Frankly I don't care how frustrated one is, teammates putting hands on each other like that is a bad look at best and indicative of a more deeper problem at worst.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but it's been pointed out how stupidly out of control the situation got.
At least, however, we can end on one lighter hearted note. Winning in adversity can sometimes be better for a team than anything else, and this helps takes the cake.
Now we can all exhale, and hopefully next week won't take a decade off our respective lifespans or make us attack teammates on the sidelines.
Hopefully.
