That's not going to be the only notable departure, though, as San Francisco is poised to deal with yet another challenging offseason, one filled with plenty of tough decisions facing both the roster and coaching staff.
One decision seems more clear than others, though: finding a way to fully get rid of disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Aiyuk's saga since his 2024 contract-extension talks has been a rough storyline to absorb. Not only were those discussions tumultuous, but his ACL and MCL injuries that year after inking a lucrative extension cast a cloud that impacted his absence and subsequent disappearance from the facility in 2025, leading to the 49ers voiding his guarantees for 2026.
Simply put, there's no way Aiyuk ever suits up for the Niners again.
With Saleh off to Tennessee, and the Titans boasting a clear need to find weaponry for second-year quarterback Cam Ward, perhaps there's a new avenue San Francisco can explore to address the Aiyuk problem.
Titans suddenly emerge as a Brandon Aiyuk trade partner for 49ers
A post June-1 designated release still seems the likeliest of outcomes for Aiyuk and the 49ers, although general manager John Lynch would prefer to get some sort of asset back for the receiver's services.
After all, the 27-year-old Aiyuk is just two years removed from a 1,342-yard campaign that earned a second-team All-Pro nod.
Granted, the Niners would still be taking on a significant cap hit via a trade with the Titans, but such outcome is going to happen anyway if via a trade or outright release.
So, why not explore a would-be trade with Tennessee?
Of course, Saleh and the Titans wouldn't be inclined to offer up much in return. After all, they're fully aware San Francisco has every intent to show Aiyuk the door this offseason, meaning his stock value is at an all-time low. Plus, Aiyuk has yet to demonstrate he's fully recovered from the serious knee injury suffered in October of 2024.
And that doesn't even cover his not-so-great-looking AWOL designation of being placed on the reserve/left squad list.
Still, even if it's a late-round pick, the 49ers could aim to recoup at least some asset in exchange for Aiyuk.
And Saleh could be the bridge to help make it happen.
