It's never a bad thing seeing future Hall of Fame cornerback Richard Sherman show up for San Francisco 49ers training camp, especially when he takes a moment for a friendly embrace with his former teammate, tight end George Kittle.
Niners fans adore their once-hated rival from his days with the Seattle Seahawks, but that ironic twist seems like a distant memory now.
And, so, it only makes sense for fans and pundits to follow up with Uncle Sherm about his visit to Levi's Stadium, and more specifically, which players are standing out during camp.
One such Twitter/X account, @49ersSportsTalk, responded to Sherman's online "hello" to the post featuring him at camp, asking which defensive back was standing out the most so far.
Sherman's response? Rookie cornerback Upton Stout, plain and simple:

Stout, whom San Francisco selected in Round 3 of last April's NFL Draft, has been making plenty of waves during training camp, earning recognition not just from Sherman but also from members of the coaching staff, including head coach Kyle Shanahan.
"He’s on everything," Shanahan said of Stout in a recent press conference. "He’s one of the bigger competitors that I’ve seen coming in as a rookie, and every day he is doing as much as he can on and off the field. That’s why he’s passing a lot of guys up [on the depth chart]."
Sherman, who spent 11 years in the league and three of them with the 49ers, appears to have noticed that about the rookie, too.
Plus, considering Sherman was given credit for helping infuse confidence in a budding-but-unproven Niners secondary in 2018 and 2019, it's safe to say the longtime defender knows what he's talking about.
