When is 49ers' bye week in 2024, and how will it impact season?
By Peter Panacy
Teams tend to prefer bye weeks in the middle of the season, but when does the 49ers' 2024 bye week happen?
Back in 2019, the San Francisco 49ers were pegged with a Week 4 bye.
Almost universally, teams hate when bye weeks happen that early in the season. Injuries haven't started to pile up just yet, and players are still awfully fresh for what'll inevitably be a long and physically challenging game.
Mentally, too.
Yet the Niners still managed to make it to the Super Bowl that year, so one can't say the early bye had too big an impact. A year ago, however, San Francisco had a Week 9 bye that followed what was an ugly three-game losing streak.
Quarterback Brock Purdy, who admitted he needed that midseason break to reset his mind, took off to his college state of Iowa to drive tractors. Upon his return, the 49ers reeled off six wins in a row.
Just for the fun of it (trust us, you'll be entertained), check out this list of all-time Niners bye weeks.

So, when is San Francisco's bye in 2024?
49ers will have a bye in Week X on 2024 schedule
With the 49ers' 2024 regular-season schedule officially announced, Purdy and Co. will get their weeklong break in Week 9.
That's squarely in the middle of the schedule and is before a long road trip to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following week. It'll also help guard against tough road trips against the Green Bay Packers and the Buffalo Bills shortly thereafter.
Hopefully, this will mark the perfect point in the season for the Niners to rest up and prepare for the second half of their regular-season campaign.
