Weather report for 49ers vs. Titans should help with preseason roster evaluation

Warm-weather football isn't always the case, but that's what the 49ers and Titans will experience this Saturday in Week 1 of the preseason.

The 49ers open up their preseason against the Titans this Saturday, and the weather couldn't be much better, which will help with roster decisions.

The San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans will kick off their 2024 preseason campaign this Saturday in an exhibition bout out in Nashville.

While the Niners have been engaged in plenty of drama with their star wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, it's easy to overlook the fact head coach Kyle Shanahan has plenty of tough choices ahead of him as he looks to whittle down the 90-man training camp roster to the original 53 players who'll grace the field when the regular season commences next month.

Sure, Shanahan has multiple practices in the books to help with this evaluation, but it also helps to put fringe players into gameday situations to see who's worth keeping around and who isn't.

Ideally, as few X-factors pop up as possible when it comes to squaring off against another team, including the weather.

Fortunately, for both San Francisco and Tennessee, the forecast for Saturday's preseason tilt is about as ideal as possible.

NFL weather for 49ers vs. Titans preseason game

It's going to be warm out in Tennessee for this weekend's contest. According to the latest weather report, the temperature at kickoff will be 81 degrees with partly cloudy skies and northwesterly winds of seven miles per hour.

It'll be a little muggy, too, with the humidity at 46 percent.

No rain is forecasted, though, meaning the field at Nissan Stadium should be in excellent shape, and that inclement weather X-factor won't be part of the equation.

That'll make Shanahan's roster evaluations that much easier.

Additionally, despite the warm temperature and humidity, Shanahan can afford to rotate his players in and out of on-field formations to keep them fresh and guard against dehydration, which is the nature of preseason bouts anyway.

All good news on that front.

The 49ers and Titans kick off on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. ET.
