4 veterans who won't be on 49ers roster come Week 1

No. 3: 49ers kicker Zane Gonzalez
The 49ers opted not to re-sign veteran kicker Robbie Gould after his lengthy tenure expired this offseason, and the stamp of that was the trade that sent former Carolina Panthers kicker Zane Gonzalez packing to the West Coast.
Despite some injury history, it would have been easy to see Gonzalez kicking in a Niners uniform for the foreseeable future. And since the trade was merely a swap of seventh-round NFL Draft picks, nothing too much had to be read into the deal anyway.
Except Gonzalez's tenure with San Francisco was doomed the moment the 49ers used a third-round draft pick on former Michigan kicker Jake Moody.
Third-round kickers don't get waived unless they have an epic flame-out during training camp, and Moody has shown zero signs of trending in that direction.
Too bad for Gonzalez. But he'll lose the job to the rookie effectively by default.
