Which teams are playing Thursday Night Football in Week 8?
By Peter Panacy
Thursday Night Football this week will feature an inter-conference matchup between two playoff contenders.
The San Francisco 49ers and their fans could be somewhat interested in Week 8's installment of Thursday Night Football, if for no other reason than it'll help erase the memory of the Niners' embarrassing Monday Night Football loss against the Minnesota Vikings just days ago.
Additionally, however, Thursday night's game could have some impact on San Francisco's playoff situation.
Well, at least one of the teams participating in Week 8 could potentially impact the 49ers.
So, which two squads are battling it out tonight on Thursday Night Football?
Thursday Night Football in Week 8 will feature Bills hosting Buccaneers
The 3-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers head north to take on the 4-3 Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.
The Bucs actually sit in a Wild Card spot with their .500 record. And, if the regular season was to end today, they'd square off on the road against the No. 2-seeded Detroit Lions in the opening round of the playoffs.
But the regular season doesn't end today, so it's still feasible the NFC West-leading Niners could somehow wind up squaring off against Tampa Bay on Wild Card weekend, too.
Although San Francisco would probably prefer that first-round bye.

At any rate, the Buccaneers lead the all-time series against Buffalo 8-4, and the Bills' prospects for climbing out of the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture hinge largely on how they perform against Tampa Bay.
Amazon Prime will carry the streaming broadcast, which kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 8:15 p.m. ET from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.
