San Francisco 49ers' top 9 NFL Draft steals of all time
By Scott Conrad
No. 1: QB Brock Purdy, Round 7, 262nd pick overall (2022)
Arguably, the steal of any draft is when the very last pick is a starting quarterback who has appeared in back-to-back NFC Championship games and was just points away from winnning his first Super Bowl in less than two seasons.
The former Iowa State hurler, Brock Purdy, became the Mr. Irrelevant in 2022.
Last season, Purdy saw his name atop many stats categories as he ranked first overall in quarterback rating (72.8), third in touchdown passes (31) and fifth in terms of passing yards (4,280), numbers that put him squarely in the MVP conversation in what was his first season as a full-time starter.
Entering his third season for the 49ers, he looks primed to repeat similar success.
He threw a completion percentage of nearly 70 percent.
Yes, it helps when throwing to star receivers like Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and dual-threat Christian McCaffrey.
However, neither of those names went 260-some picks before having their name called; Purdy did.
