No. 1: Cornerback Isaiah Oliver

One of Steve Wilks' hand-picked free-agent additions last offseason was veteran cornerback Isaiah Oliver, who was expected to be a key contributor at nickel.

Except that didn't go according to plan whatsoever.

Oliver found himself demoted from the starting job, which prompted Wilks to move Deommodore Lenoir inside from the boundary while promoting Ambry Thomas into a starting job, ultimately weakening the Niners' defensive backfield.

San Francisco still has Oliver under contract through 2024, though, and cutting him will incur $1.464 million in dead money against $2.4 million in cap savings, if done before June 1.

Oliver certainly didn't do enough to warrant hanging around, and with Wilks out the door, it sure seems as if the defensive back will follow suit, too.
