No. 4: Edge Chase Young

All-Pro defensive end Nick Bosa campaigned for the Niners re-signing his former Ohio State teammate, edge Chase Young, after the Super Bowl.

The feasibility of that happening, though, is slim.

Young had an up-and-down tenure with San Francisco after being acquired via trade with the Washington Commanders prior to the deadline, notching just 2.5 sacks with the 49ers after boasting five before the deal.

But even a mid-level pass-rusher can easily command north of $10 million per season. Considering the Niners are already more than $3.7 million above the salary cap for 2024 and have other pressing deals to get done, such as extending wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and possibly tendering restricted free-agent wideout Jauan Jennings, Young might have to a necessary casualty of the team's cap situation.
