Over the past couple of seasons, no bigger topic has been discussed within the San Francisco 49ers organization than the quarterback position.

Whether it's been Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance, Sam Darnold or Brock Purdy, there have been no shortages of names and conversations.

Now, as the 49ers have committed to Purdy as their guy going into the 2023 season, they'll look to not only make it to the NFC Championship Game, but win it and ultimately find themselves holding the Lombardi Trophy.

Back to Purdy, though. Going into the season, right now, where does he rank amongst his NFC South peers? Let's check in on our latest power rankings.

4. Josh Dobbs and Clayton Tune, Cardinals

Let's be honest, the Cardinals' quarterback situation is as bad as it gets. In fact, if these were rankings all throughout the NFL, Arizona would be dead last. It's not particularly close.

Now, if Kyler Murray were healthy, maybe this would be a different story depending on how he finished last season. But, he's not healthy. Murray is still on his way back from an ACL injury and the Cardinals are now deciding between their rookie fifth-round pick, Clayton Tune, and veteran Josh Dobbs prior to Week 1.

No matter which direction they go, the Cardinals don't have a very good chance of competing with anyone. We've known, for a while now, that the Cardinals are all in on 2024. They have already traded some notable players, and have a few more they can offer up still to this point.

Arizona is going no where in 2023, and the quarterback position is a large contributor to that factor.
