NFC West power rankings heading into Week 2
By Ryan Heckman
Well, if you're a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, maybe Week 1 didn't go exactly how you had hoped. But, for San Francisco 49ers faithful, Week 1 ended pretty much the way it was planned.
The 49ers had no problem coming away with a win over Pittsburgh to start the season, but the rest of the division had some interesting happenings.
Where do the 49ers stand in terms of our NFC West power rankings after just one week? Let's check in around the division.
4. Arizona Cardinals
It is pretty easy to put the Arizona Cardinals dead last on this list, and as long as they keep losing games (which is likely), that probably won't change. The Cardinals kept it fairly competitive with a Washington Commanders team that's looking to establish direction behind a new starting quarterback in Sam Howell, but ultimately it was Washington that came back in the fourth quarter and won.
Arizona ended the day with just 210 total yards of offense, with quarterback Joshua Dobbs losing two of three fumbles on the day. It was rough sledding for the Cardinals offense who are starting the season without Kyler Murray. Dobbs finished with 114 yards of net passing and a QBR of 21.6.
Meanwhile, Arizona's defense didn't play too bad, allowing Washington 248 yards of offense. It was simply a battle of two bad teams, and the Cardinals wound up being the worst of the two, to no one's surprise.
