49ers from last season who are free agents: TE Ross Dwelley

The longtime backup to George Kittle, Ross Dwelley, is a free agent. He has done a solid job for the team since 2018, mostly as a blocker but also as a receiver in certain situations.

Last season with the Niners he only had one catch for 12 yards, and the season before he only had three catches.

It seems unlikely that the Niners will bring him back. They seem likely to rely on Cameron Latu and Brayden Willis as the backups to Kittle next season. It is also possible they draft a tight end to have a new backup.

Those are six 49ers players from the 2023 season who are free agents. It would be surprising if any of them were re-signed by the Niners. Several of them should be signed fairly soon while others may be waiting on a call all offseason and may decide to hang it up if that call never comes.
