7. Brock Purdy (2022 to current)

Mr. Irrelevant, or the last player selected in the NFL Draft each year, usually dwindles off into obscurity fairly quickly.

That was not the case with rookie quarterback Brock Purdy in 2022.

After getting promoted from the practice squad to the game-day roster, and getting the nod as a starter after injuries to quarterbacks Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, Purdy came onto the scene with a vengeance.

He would go undefeated in his first five starts and finish the season by leading the 49ers to an NFC West division title.

In the playoffs, he was excellent as well helping his team defeat the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys on the way to the NFC Championship game. In that game, however, he tore his UCL early on in the game and required surgery in the offseason.

2023 will be a prove-it season for Purdy to show everyone that his rookie season was not a fluke. He will look to return from injury, and if he can build on the success of 2022, the sky is the limit for him.
