49ers best offseason move No. 1: Inking Javon Hargrave

Make no mistake, the top move John Lynch and the 49ers put together that'll make an immediate and almost guaranteed impact was the free-agent signing of Javon Hargrave.

Hargrave, who enjoyed a career-best 11-sack season with Philadelphia last year, didn't come cheap and will earn up to $81 million on a four-year deal. However, as broken down by Nicholas McGee over at Niners Nation, the 30-year-old Hargrave could end up having a Christian McCaffrey-like effect, only on San Francisco's defense and not the offense:

"McCaffrey served as a force multiplier who made life significantly easier for the offense last season. Hargrave’s prowess as an interior pass rusher is such that he can fill the same role for a defense that does not have as much depth, but may now have an even higher ceiling with his signing."

Simply put, Hargrave is going to make players like Arik Armstead and Nick Bosa that much more potent

Considering the 49ers already boasted the league's No. 1 defense from a year ago, it's safe to say it's a ranking that shouldn't decrease much if at all heading into 2023.

And Hargrave is the biggest reason why.
