3 problems 49ers need to fix before Week 3 game vs. rival Rams

2. Brock Purdy's pass protection has to be more effective
The 49ers gave up three sacks in the first game of the season as quarterback Brock Purdy was sacked twice, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel was taken down for a loss. The Niners did not improve in that area in Week 2 as they gave up twice as many sacks.
That's nine sacks given up by the defending NFC champions after just two games.
To put things into perspective, San Francisco gave up an average of two sacks a game last year but has now allowed an average of 4.5 sacks per contest.
Good thing for the 49ers, the Rams have only collected three sacks in their first two games this season. They have allowed seven themselves, which could work in the Niners' favor.
It's hard to win games when your quarterback takes hits and plays resulting in lost yardage from breakdowns in the offensive line. This has made Kyle Shanahan's job harder to win football games and Purdy's ability to throw touchdowns.
