Trade

At first glance, this particular trade might look like we’re taking a step backward without a first-round pick involved.

However, three selections overall within the first 60 picks is a pretty good haul. Plus, it’s not as harsh on the salary cap. There are too many high-priced contracts on this roster, adding multiple first-round picks would be pretty careless unless John Lynch is planning on unloading a few pricey contracts. This trade not only services the needs of the 49ers, but it also blesses second-year head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Pairing Aiyuk with quarterback C. J. Stroud is the perfect remedy for the possibility of a sophomore jinx.

Stroud made unbelievable strides last year leading his team into the playoffs berth. Imagine the chemistry they could bring to the passing game. Both are young and haven’t even entered their prime yet. In fact, if John Lynch can’t come to an agreement with Aiyuk, the only thing that makes sense is gifting him to Ryans.

For a price of course.

Three picks that early could translate to a successor to offensive tackle Trent Williams, a cover corner to pair with Charvarius Ward and a replacement for Aiyuk. Not to mention, Ryans continues to ascend.

Everybody wins.
