The San Francisco 49ers should enter next season with a solid roster on paper. There are not too many glaring weak spots and their recent draft class addressed some deficiencies.

However, there are now some players who are likely to be cut.

After the moves that the Niners made in free agency, via trade, and at the 2024 NFL Draft, they have an overabundance of players at certain position groups. It could lead to some interesting camp battles during preseason, but when it is time to get the roster down to 53, decisions will have to be made.

It is early, but let's take a look at three players who may wind up being cut by San Francisco.

No. 1: Wide receiver Danny Gray

Danny Gray has been on the hot seat with the 49ers for a little while now. He was drafted as a deep threat with his impressive speed, but injuries have kept him off the field thus far. He only has one career reception on seven targets.

The 49ers drafted two wide receivers, Ricky Pearsall in round one and Jacob Cowing in the fourth, and they also brought back Trent Taylor in free agency. Assuming the team keeps Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, they are going to need to make some cuts in the wide receiver department.

Gray makes sense as a cut. He has not been on the field, so he has not been able to prove his potential.

He could succeed on another team, but it seems that his time in San Francisco is nearing an end.

No. 2: Tackle Jaylon Moore

The 49ers have the best offensive lineman in football with Trent Williams, but his backup Jaylon Moore may soon be cut. Moore was drafted in 2021 and has played a decent amount filling in for Williams mostly in garbage time or when Williams has been injured.

The reason why Moore may be cut is because the team signed tackle Brandon Parker in free agency. Even though they did not draft a tackle, they did get two offensive linemen who are capable of playing tackle.

This could create a bit of a squeeze on the offensive line, and Moore may end up being the odd man out.

No.3: Cornerback Samuel Womack

Another position that the Niners added a lot to in free agency and the draft was the cornerback spot. They drafted Renardo Green in the second round. And in free agency, they added Rock Ya-Sin, Isaac Yiadom, and Chase Lucas.

Samuel Womack only played in seven games for the team last season. With so many players ahead of him on the depth chart, it just seems as if there may not be enough room for Womack and he may wind up getting cut.

It is a long way until the Niners have to make these tough decisions, but as things currently stand, these are three player who may wind up being cut.
