3 players 49ers could attempt to trade by NFL deadline (but probably won't)

John Lynch could go against the grain and trade away players at the NFL trade deadline, right?

49ers tradable player No. 3: WR Danny Gray

Currently, second-year wide receiver Danny Gray is shelved on injured reserve with an injury, and he'd have to clear that and be named to the active roster before any trade could be executed.

That said, there isn't exactly much room for him on San Francisco's depth chart.

Behind Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings, the 49ers are likely comfortable with Jauan Jennings and Ray-Ray McCloud for the top five, supplementing the depth with practice squad players like Willie Snead IV and Chris Conley. Rookie Ronnie Bell is in the mix, too.

Gray was drafted to be the speedy deep threat for strong-armed quarterback Trey Lance, who is now off with the Dallas Cowboys.

If Gray, the former third-round pick, is no longer needed to open up the downfield passing attack, the Niners should at least dangle him at the deadline.

The 2023 NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
