2 common outcomes are the same for 49ers in the first 3 weeks

While a Week 1 win against the New York Jets and one loss against an NFC West foe may not doom a team, this also happened in 2020.

That's right. San Francisco beat up on the Jets that season, too, despite not making the playoffs.

In Week 1 of this year and Week 2 in 2020, the 49ers beat the Jets by scoring more than 30 points and allowing less than 20. The Niners also dropped a close game to a team within their division. In Week 3 this year, San Francisco blew a fourth-quarter lead and lost by less than a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams. Early on in the fourth quarter, a 26-yard field goal by kicker Jake Moody gave the 49ers a 10-point lead. They squandered it in the first contest against an NFC West team.

The same happened in 2020 when the Niners could not hold onto their 20-17 edge over the Arizona Cardinals.

San Francisco would end up having a difficult season moving forward regardless of the blowout win over the Jets previously.
