It's the doldrums of the NFL season, but that doesn't stop the Niner Noise Podcast from bringing you another episode. As the San Francisco 49ers head into the final days of preparations before the break that comes before training camp, the Niner Noise Podcast has you covered.

Your hosts, site contributors Robert Morrison and Akshaj Dwivedula, focus on the standout players during Organized Team Activities (OTAs), with particular focus on rookie wide receiver Ronnie Bell, kicker Zane Gonzalez, and cornerback Isaiah Oliver.

The guys also discuss why OTAs ultimately tell us very little about what players could eventually crack the final roster, especially in some areas on the roster where there might still be starting positions open.

Of those roles, right tackle, where Colton McKivitz is presumed to be the starter heading into the summer, and the edge-rusher position opposite Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, are two that stand out.

But given that OTAs are mostly 7-on-7 drills, which don't tell us anything about the offensive line or the pass rush, those battles will have to wait until training camp.

Without a doubt, this conversation leads into talk about the most important position on the field and checking on the progress of quarterback Brock Purdy and his injury as well as what it means for Trey Lance and his quest to regain his starting role for the 2023 49ers.

Finally, Robert and Akshaj take a quick look at the 49ers' 2023 schedule, and while they don't dive into a game-by-game analysis, they do talk about the schedule from a bird's eye view. That leads to a conversation about the most interesting games on the schedule, the toughest stretch, and a bizarre quirk involving bird mascosts.
