Niner Noise Podcast: Post-49ers minicamp grab bag, Brock Purdy, and more
Even though the offseason is now in full swing, that doesn't mean there's not plenty to talk about regarding the San Francisco 49ers with training camp just about a month away.
For that, the Niner Noise Podcast returns to dive into all things Niners, as OTAs and minicamp are both complete and the players and coaches head out to prepare for the upcoming season. Your hosts, Robert Morrison and Akshaj Dwivedula, are here to talk about a few important topics related to this year's team.
To start things off, they of course look at quarterback Brock Purdy's recovery from offseason UCL surgery and how head coach Kyle Shanahan noted that the signal-caller appears to be "ahead of schedule" in his progression, which could mean he'll have time to practice with the first team offense before the season opener in Pittsburgh against the Steelers on Sept. 10.

This, of course, means something entiretly different for last year's starter and former No. 3 overall draft pick, Trey Lance, who comes up in terms of what Purdy's progress means for Lance's development. An important question about what role Lance should play in the preseason is discussed in terms of how it relates to that idea.
Then, the guys break down potential EDGE upgrades opposite reigning Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa that may be available on the trade market, most notably Danielle Hunter of the Minnesota Vikings and Chase Young of the Washington Commanders. Both players are heading into the final year of their respective contracts and could be on the move for the right price, so the question is really who makes the most sense for San Francisco.

Finally, they look at some stories and camp battles to look forward to when training camp begins in July, with a lot of attention being paid to rookie safety Ji'Ayir Brown and the noise he made on the field during OTAs and whether he can continue that play.
