There's a growing X-factor for Saturday's playoff game between the 49ers and Packers, and it's something beyond anyone's control.

Usually, the Bay Area is known for having wonderful weather into the fall and occasionally into early winter. It's one of the many reasons why the NFL doesn't mind scheduling Super Bowls at the home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi's Stadium because inclement weather is rarely a factor.

That said, the weather is going to be a factor for the Niners' upcoming playoff bout against the visiting Green Bay Packers this Saturday.

San Francisco hosts the seven-seeded Packers for the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. After a first-round bye week, stemming from securing the top seed in the conference, the 49ers are both rested and prepared for Green Bay.

However, preparing for poor weather is something neither team would like to do.

49ers vs. Packers forecast: NFL weather calls for rain, wind gusts during playoff game

Stormy weather is rolling into Northern California and will hit the Bay Area on Saturday, right ahead of the Niners and Packers playoff game.

According to the latest forecast from NFLweather.com, there's a strong chance of rain (69 percent) at kickoff, and it's expected to continue for the entire game. Cloud cover won't matter since it's a primetime night game, but the winds will be a factor.

The temperature at kickoff is predicted to be 57 degrees, so at least neither team will have to face frigid conditions like the ones that have already graced this season's postseason matchups multiple times.

Currently, they're forecasted to be southwesterly at 14 miles per hour with potential wind gusts up to 21 miles per hour, which could make life difficult for not only quarterback Brock Purdy but also kicker Jake Moody.

Perhaps the inclement weather will give the team that avoids turnovers and runs the ball a better chance at advancing to the NFC Championship game after this round.

San Francisco and Green Bay kick off on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 8:15 p.m. ET from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
